FILM PROPOSAL
Thank you for your interest in submitting a film to WOMEX 25, Tampere, Finland, 22>26 October 2025.
The dates for the Film Programme are Thursday 23, Friday 24 and Saturday 25 October 2025.
WOMEX Film presents documentaries that portray music, movements and histories from across the world. WOMEX offers you, the filmmaker, producer, distributor, an alternative platform to share your work and network with new audiences, curators, festivals, venue managers, among others, further strengthening the conversation between the global music and film community.
WOMEX Film presents documentaries that portray music, movements and histories from across the world. WOMEX offers you, the filmmaker, producer, distributor, an alternative platform to share your work and network with new audiences, curators, festivals, venue managers, among others, further strengthening the conversation between the global music and film community.
Short or Feature Films can be presented in three different formats:
Public Screenings: An integral part of the WOMEX Film Programme, inviting local audiences and delegates to experience engaging and thought-provoking films from the world of music cinema.
Market Screenings: Handpicked one-off screenings that push forth synergies between the film and music industry introducing music, artists and the histories behind them. These screenings are only accessible to registered WOMEX delegates.
Film Library: Independent of scheduled screenings, these films can be watched by delegates on-demand at any time during the Expo. Films can highlight new projects, collaborations as well as previews accompanied by on-topic discussions.

Submission Fee
20 January - 07 February: Early Bird Rate, 15 €08 February - 28 February: Late Rate, 25 €
No submission fee for films under 30 mins
Rules & Regulations:
- Only films with the production year 2024 or 2025 will be considered;
- Only a completed online submission form along with an online preview link will be considered;
- You will need a Paypal account to pay the submission fee;
- There is no submission fee for films under 30 mins;
- The deadline to complete your submission is Friday, 28 February, 2025;
- The submitted film should be the final screening version. If the film is not finished by the WOMEX submission deadline, a rough-cut or work in progress should be submitted;
- All films must have English subtitles unless the dialogue is in English;
- If the film is selected, an invitation will be sent out notifying the submitter. WOMEX will offer one full accreditation and the film will be featured in all necessary promotional materials;
- On agreement, selected films will additionally have a digital screening;
- Films selected for WOMEX 25 will be notified latest by July and all submitted films will be notified latest by September. Please note that we are not able to respond with reviews and feedback for individual films;
- Please note that WOMEX does not pay a screening fee for selected films.
